Target intelligence / Profile preview
TUBB8P2 (tubulin beta 8 class VIII pseudogene 2) is a human pseudogene that shows homology to tubulin beta 8 class VIII (TUBB8), which encodes a structural protein critical for microtubule function and oocyte maturation. Unlike TUBB8, TUBB8P2 does not produce a functional protein and has no recognized biological or disease-related role. Pseudogenes such as TUBB8P2 are generally regarded as nonfunctional genomic elements, although in rare instances, pseudogenes can give rise to regulatory RNAs or participate in gene conversion, these phenomena are not reported for this particular pseudogene[2][3][7].
