Target intelligence / Profile preview
Tubulin beta 8 class VIII pseudogene 7 (TUBB8P7) is a genomic DNA sequence on human chromosome 16 classified as a processed pseudogene, related to the tubulin beta-8 gene (TUBB8). Unlike the functional TUBB8 gene, which encodes a key cytoskeletal protein vital in oocyte maturation and early embryogenesis, TUBB8P7 does not produce a functional protein. As a pseudogene, TUBB8P7 may participate in RNA-based regulatory mechanisms, such as acting as a competitive endogenous RNA or miRNA sponge, but has no established direct protein function or therapeutic target role. Its RNA transcript has been reported as deregulated in certain cancers (e.g., head and neck cancer), suggesting potential as a disease biomarker within gene network analyses, but not as a protein-coding or druggable target[13][12][4].
