Target intelligence / Profile preview
The tubulin beta subunit is a core component of microtubules, essential cytoskeletal structures involved in cell shape, intracellular transport, and cell division. It heterodimerizes with alpha-tubulin to form the building blocks of microtubules. Several beta-tubulin isotypes exist, exhibiting tissue-specific expression and functional specialization. Beta-tubulin is a major target for anti-cancer drugs, which disrupt microtubule dynamics, inhibiting cell proliferation.
Disruption of microtubule dynamics, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.
