Tubulin polymerization promoting protein 1 (TPPP1, also called TPPP or p25) is a microtubule-associated protein highly expressed in the brain, involved in bundling and stabilizing microtubules, increasing their polymerization, and enhancing microtubule acetylation by inhibiting histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6). It is implicated in cytoskeletal organization, neuronal growth, cell migration, and has emerged as a potential therapeutic target in cancers (such as pancreatic, colorectal, lung, and bladder cancers) and neurological disorders, though no specific drugs targeting TPPP1 are approved. The canonical name is "Tubulin polymerization promoting protein 1 (TPPP1)", not "Tubulin polymerisation promoter," and it is not itself a receptor, enzyme, or classical druggable protein family member, but represents an emerging target class within microtubule biology.
