Tudor domain-containing protein 15 (TDRD15) is a protein-coding gene belonging to the Tudor domain-containing family. It is primarily involved in germ cell biology, especially piRNA pathway regulation, and is evolutionarily conserved with roles in gametogenesis and genome stability through its interactions with PIWI proteins[1][5]. Tudor domain-containing protein 15 (TDRD15) is a member of the Tudor domain-containing protein family, characterized by the presence of multiple Tudor domains that mediate protein-protein interactions, including those with symmetrically dimethylated arginines. TDRD15 is highly expressed in the testis and is involved in the organization of P granules, processing of PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs), and regulation of spermatogenesis and gametogenesis. Through its interaction with PIWI proteins via Tudor domains, TDRD15 plays a role in maintaining genome stability in germ cells and is part of a conserved molecular pathway in vertebrates[1][3][5]. There is scant evidence linking TDRD15 to specific human diseases, and no known drugs that target this protein are reported. TDRD15 is best classified as a structural protein involved in germ cell biology, not as a therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme. It has a conserved biological role, mainly in spermatogenesis and genome integrity, and is not currently associated with biomarkers, drugs, or safety concerns relevant to clinical therapeutics.
