The tumor antigen-MHC complex on exosomal membranes refers to the presentation of tumor-derived peptide antigens bound to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules, displayed on the surface of exosomes secreted by tumor cells or antigen-presenting cells (APCs). These complexes play a crucial role in immune modulation within the tumor microenvironment and have implications for cancer immunotherapy and biomarker development. Exosomes bearing peptide-loaded MHC I/II complexes can stimulate both CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and CD4+ helper T cell responses. They can also modulate immunity negatively, for example, by inhibiting NK cell activity or skewing myeloid differentiation toward immunosuppressive phenotypes.
Presentation of tumor-associated antigens to T cells, leading to T cell activation and cytotoxicity. May also induce immune tolerance or suppression depending on context.
