Overview

Tumor-associated antigen KOC1 is a protein that is overexpressed in various human cancers and can be recognized by the immune system as a target for anti-tumor responses. It has been studied primarily as an epitope source capable of inducing cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity against tumor cells expressing both KOC1 and appropriate HLA molecules[4]. Peptides derived from this antigen have shown potency in stimulating interferon-gamma production by CTLs, indicating its relevance for cancer immunotherapy research. As a tumor-associated antigen, it is present at higher levels on malignant cells compared to normal tissues, making it a candidate target for vaccine development and other immune-based therapies[4][7]. The precise molecular function remains incompletely characterized based on current public data; some sources suggest possible roles related to RNA metabolism or translation regulation[10], but these require further validation. No approved drugs currently target this molecule directly.
