Tumor-Associated Antigen-MHC Complex (TAA-MHC)

Target
TAA-MHC
Molecular classification
Receptor complex, MHC Class I complex, MHC Class II complex, Antigen presentation complex
01

Overview

The tumor-associated antigen-MHC complex is a crucial molecular assembly formed when a peptide derived from a tumor-associated antigen (TAA) is bound and presented by a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule on the surface of cells. This complex enables T cells to recognize and respond to malignant cells. It is a key target for cancer immunotherapy, influencing both prognosis and therapeutic response. Tumors often develop mechanisms to evade immune detection by altering the expression or function of components involved in TAA-MHC presentation. The TAA-MHC complex can be either Class I or Class II, recognized by CD8+ and CD4+ T-cells, respectively.
