This target refers to the process by which autologous (patient-derived) dendritic cells (DCs) present tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) using major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. This mechanism is central to initiating and regulating anti-tumor immune responses, particularly in cancer immunotherapy strategies such as dendritic cell-based vaccines. DCs acquire TAAs, process them, and present them on MHC class I and II molecules to activate CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and CD4+ helper T lymphocytes, respectively. Dysfunctional DCs and tumor immune evasion mechanisms highlight the therapeutic potential of enhancing this pathway.
