A tumor-associated antigen (TAA) presented by the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) refers to a molecule or peptide derived from tumor cells that is displayed on the cell surface in association with MHC molecules. This presentation is crucial for immune recognition and targeting of cancer cells. The complex is recognized by T cell receptors on T lymphocytes, leading to an immune response. Loss or downregulation of MHC molecules is a major mechanism of immune evasion in cancer.
