Overview

Tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are proteins or other molecular structures that are overexpressed or aberrantly expressed on the surface of HCC cells compared to normal liver tissue. These antigens, including Glypican-3 (GPC3), Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), Annexin-A2, and MAGE-C1/C2, serve as key targets for immunotherapeutic strategies, including cancer vaccines and adoptive T cell therapies, due to their ability to elicit tumor-specific immune responses. High TAA expression often correlates with aggressive disease features and poor prognosis.
