Overview

EO2318-derived peptides are part of a novel class of immunotherapy known as OncoMimics, which utilize the structural similarity between microbiome-derived peptides and human tumor-associated antigens (TAAs). The target of these peptides is the specific set of TAAs expressed on the surface of cancer cells that are mimicked by the bacterial sequences in the EO2318 cocktail. By administering these highly immunogenic bacterial peptides, the therapy aims to activate and expand memory T-cells that were originally primed by the gut microbiota. These activated T-cells then cross-react with the corresponding TAAs on tumor cells, leading to targeted cell death. This approach leverages the body's natural microbiome-induced immunity to overcome the self-tolerance often associated with traditional cancer vaccines. EO2318 is typically investigated for its efficacy in treating various solid tumors where these specific TAAs are overexpressed.

Mechanism of action

EO2318 consists of microbiome-derived peptides that mimic specific tumor-associated antigens (TAAs). These peptides are designed to trigger a strong memory T-cell response by exploiting the pre-existing immunity against commensal bacteria, thereby cross-reacting with and destroying tumor cells expressing the mimicked TAAs.
