Overview

The target refers to the collective set of tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) presented by NGEN-241, an off-the-shelf whole-cell therapeutic vaccine developed by NEUVOGEN for the treatment of prostate cancer [2, 4]. NGEN-241 utilizes a proprietary platform of genetically modified allogeneic tumor cell lines designed to provide broad tumor antigen presentation, aiming to overcome the challenges of tumor heterogeneity and immune escape [4]. By presenting a polyvalent set of antigens, the vaccine primes the patient's immune system to generate a robust T-cell response, including both CD8+ cytotoxic and CD4+ helper T cells, against malignant cells [4, 16]. This approach is intended to target primary tumors as well as metastatic disease by training the immune system to recognize multiple markers simultaneously [4]. While designed to be highly specific to the tumor's antigenic profile, the use of TAAs carries a potential risk of off-target immune responses against healthy tissues that may express these antigens at lower levels [16].
