Tumor-associated Glycoprotein 72 (TAG-72)

Tumor-associated glycoprotein 72 (TAG-72) is a high molecular weight, mucin-like glycoprotein complex found predominantly on the surface of many cancer cells. It is minimally expressed in normal adult tissues, with the exception of secretory endometrium. TAG-72 serves as a tumor marker (CA 72-4) and a potential therapeutic target. High expression correlates with aggressive clinicopathologic features and poorer prognosis. Therapeutic strategies include monoclonal antibodies and CAR-T cell therapies.
