Tumor-associated peptide-specific cytotoxic T cell activation refers to the process by which cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), particularly CD8+ T cells, are specifically activated to recognize and kill tumor cells presenting peptides derived from tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) on their surface. This involves antigen presentation by MHC-I molecules, TCR recognition, costimulation, and CTL-mediated cytotoxicity. It is a central mechanism in anti-tumor immunity and a key principle underlying cancer immunotherapies.
Direct lysis of tumor cells by cytotoxic T lymphocytes following recognition of tumor-associated peptides presented on MHC-I molecules. The mechanism relies on T cell receptor (TCR) recognition of peptide-MHC complexes, costimulation, and subsequent release of cytotoxic granules containing perforin and granzymes.
