Tumor Cell Lysis via Oncolytic Viral Infection (OV-mediated Tumor Lysis)

Target
OV-mediated Tumor Lysis
Molecular classification
Viral therapy, Immunotherapy
01

Overview

Tumor cell lysis via oncolytic viral infection is a therapeutic strategy that utilizes specifically selected or engineered viruses (oncolytic viruses, OVs) to infect and destroy cancer cells. OVs exploit unique features of tumor cells, such as altered surface receptors, defective antiviral responses, and abnormal signaling pathways, to selectively replicate within and lyse malignant cells while sparing normal tissue. The therapy induces both direct oncolysis and activation of anti-tumor immunity.
