Tumor cell nuclear DNA is the genetic material within cancer cells that serves as the target for beta particle emission from radionuclide-loaded microspheres. The localized radiation induces irreparable DNA damage, leading to cell death and tumor regression. Selectivity is achieved via targeted delivery of the microspheres and the limited range of beta particles, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
