Tumor cell surface receptors are biologically active molecules embedded in the plasma membrane of cancer cells. They function as binding sites for various ligands such as growth factors, cytokines, adhesion molecules, and immune checkpoint proteins. These receptors can be overexpressed or aberrantly expressed on tumor cells compared to normal tissues.
