Target intelligence / Profile preview
Soluble Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (sTNFα) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine and a key mediator in immune system signaling. It plays central roles in inflammation, infection control, autoimmunity, and anti-tumor responses. sTNF is derived from the membrane-bound precursor form through enzymatic cleavage by TACE (ADAM17). sTNF primarily binds to TNFR1, leading to diverse cellular outcomes like apoptosis, proliferation, and gene activation. Anti-TNF agents are used to treat autoimmune and inflammatory disorders by neutralizing sTNF.
