Target intelligence / Profile preview
Tumor necrosis factor alpha receptor 2 (TNFRII or TNFR2) is one of two primary membrane receptors for tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα), a key cytokine in inflammation, immunity, and cell death. Signaling through TNFRII has anti-inflammatory activities and protective effects on certain nonimmune cells such as oligodendrocytes, cardiomyocytes, and keratinocytes. Preferentially stimulates regulatory T cells (Tregs).
Agonists may boost Treg function for autoimmunity. Antagonists/blockers may enhance antitumor immunity by reducing suppressive Treg activity within tumors.
