Tumor necrosis factor beta (TNF-β), also known as lymphotoxin-alpha (LT-α), is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor superfamily. It is primarily produced by activated lymphocytes and plays a critical role in immune regulation, development of lymphoid organs, and cytotoxicity against tumor cells. It signals through TNFR1 and TNFR2, influencing apoptosis and cell survival. Dysregulation contributes to chronic inflammation and cancer, making it a therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases.
