Receptor Activator for Nuclear Factor-kappa B Ligand (RANKL)

Target
RANKL
Molecular classification
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) cytokine family, Type II transmembrane protein
01

Overview

Receptor Activator for Nuclear Factor-kappa B Ligand (RANKL) is a type II transmembrane protein belonging to the TNF cytokine family. It is a key regulator of osteoclast differentiation, activation, and survival, playing a critical role in bone remodeling and resorption. RANKL is also involved in immune regulation, hematopoiesis, and the formation of specialized immune microenvironments. Its dysregulation is implicated in various diseases, including osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer with bone metastasis, making it a therapeutic target.
