Overview
Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 9 (TNFSF9), also known as 4-1BB ligand (4-1BBL) or CD137L, is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed on antigen-presenting cells (APCs). It functions as a costimulatory molecule for T lymphocytes, inducing proliferation and playing a role in activation-induced cell death (AICD). It also transduces signals into APCs upon engagement with its receptor on T cells ("reverse signaling").
