Overview
Tumor necrosis factor-like ligand 1A (TL1A), also known as TNFSF15, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily of cytokines. It exists primarily as a membrane-bound form but can be released as a soluble protein. TL1A provides costimulatory signals to activated lymphocytes and influences all major effector pathways: Th1, Th2, Th17 responses. It is abnormally expressed in autoimmune diseases. Targeting the TL1A/DR3 axis represents an emerging strategy for personalized therapy approaches especially within IBD.
