Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor-Associated Protein 1 (TRAP1)

Target
TRAP1
Molecular classification
Heat shock protein, Hsp90 family, Mitochondrial chaperone
01

Overview

Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated protein 1 (TRAP1) is a mitochondrial chaperone belonging to the heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) family. It plays a critical role in maintaining mitochondrial proteostasis, regulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, and modulating apoptosis. TRAP1 is overexpressed in many tumor types and supports cancer cell survival under stress conditions. It has also been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's disease, where it protects against mitochondrial dysfunction.
