Overview

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 19 (TNFRSF19), also known as TROY, is a type I transmembrane receptor highly expressed during embryonic development. It interacts with members of the TNF receptor-associated factor (TRAF) family and can activate the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway, leading to apoptosis. The receptor plays an essential role in embryonic development and has been implicated in regulating cell fate decisions such as proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Its expression is regulated by Wnt signaling pathways; upregulation promotes osteogenesis while downregulation favors adipogenesis. High expression has been linked to nasopharyngeal carcinoma progression.
