Target intelligence / Profile preview

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 1A (TNFR1)

Target
TNFR1
Molecular classification
Receptor, Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily
01

Overview

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 1A (TNFR1) is a type I transmembrane protein that belongs to the TNFR superfamily. It is constitutively expressed on most nucleated cells and plays a crucial role in mediating the effects of TNFα, a key cytokine involved in inflammation and immunity. Upon TNFα binding, TNFR1 initiates several signaling pathways, including NF-κB activation, apoptosis, and necroptosis, influencing cell survival, proliferation, and death. Due to its central role in inflammation and cell fate regulation, TNFR1 is a target for therapeutic intervention in various diseases.
