Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily Member 1B (TNFR2)

TNFR2

Receptor, Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily
01

Overview

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 1B (TNFR2) is a receptor for tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα), a key cytokine in inflammation and immune regulation. Unlike TNFR1, TNFR2 expression is restricted and primarily found on immune cell subsets. TNFR2 lacks a death domain and signals through TRAF proteins to activate NFκB pathways, promoting cell survival and proliferation. TNFR2 plays complex roles in cancer, acting both pro-tumorigenically by supporting immunosuppressive cells and anti-tumorigenically by activating cytotoxic T-cells. It is also implicated in neuroprotection.
