Tumor protein D52 (TPD52)

Target
TPD52
Molecular classification
Other, Coiled-coil motif protein
01

Overview

Tumor protein D52 is a member of a conserved protein family with a coiled-coil motif, implicated in vesicle-mediated transport, cell proliferation, and cancer cell metabolism. It interacts with AMPKα, inhibiting its activity and altering energy homeostasis, which promotes tumor development. TPD52 is frequently amplified and overexpressed in breast, prostate, and other cancers, and is considered a potential molecular target as well as a prognostic biomarker for cancer outcomes. TPD52 is distinct from classic receptors, enzymes, or channels; instead, it serves as a regulatory protein impacting cell division, metabolic signaling, and potentially vesicle trafficking in cancer cells.
