Target intelligence / Profile preview
TPD52-MRPS28 readthrough (ENSG00000276418) refers to a predicted transcript that results from transcriptional readthrough between the TPD52 and MRPS28 genes. Such readthrough proteins are generally bioinformatically annotated, with no evidence for stable protein product, biological function, or therapeutic relevance. TPD52 encodes a cytoplasmic protein involved in vesicle trafficking and cell proliferation, and is implicated in several cancers[3][1]. MRPS28 encodes a mitochondrial ribosomal protein that is part of the 28S subunit, necessary for mitochondrial translation[2]. There is currently no experimental evidence that the readthrough transcript is expressed as a functional protein, nor that it plays any therapeutic, diagnostic, or biological role. Therefore, this entity should not be considered a validated target for research or drug discovery.
