Overview

Tumor protein p53 inducible protein 13 (TP53I13) is a human protein encoded by the TP53I13 gene. It is induced by activation of the tumor suppressor p53 and is thought to play a role in the negative regulation of cell cycle progression and response to DNA-damaging stimuli such as UV irradiation and xenobiotics. Functional studies suggest a possible tumor suppressor role, as its overexpression can inhibit tumor cell growth. The protein’s detailed molecular function remains unclear, but it is classified within the DUF3105 family, indicating it is a protein of yet unknown function. Mutations or altered expression of TP53I13 have been associated with rare syndromes and potentially cancer susceptibility, though it is not a classical receptor, enzyme, or transporter[3][5][7].
