Overview

Tumor protein p63 regulated 1 (TPRG1) is a protein involved in the cellular inflammatory response, proliferation, and migration, particularly in the context of bladder diseases such as cystitis glandularis and potentially bladder adenocarcinoma. Its expression is upregulated in inflamed and tumorous tissues. Functional studies indicate that silencing TPRG1 can suppress inflammation and pathological proliferation via the NF-κB/cyclooxygenase-2/prostaglandin E2 (COX-2/PGE2) axis, making it of interest both as a possible therapeutic target and a disease biomarker. TPRG1 itself is regulated by the transcription factor p63 and may play distinct roles in disease progression and recurrence. Notes: - TPRG1 is distinct from “tumor protein p63” (TP63/p63), which is a well-characterized transcription factor; TPRG1 is a downstream protein regulated by p63. - There is currently no standardized list of drugs directly targeting TPRG1, nor is it a member of the better-known molecular target classes (e.g., receptor, enzyme). - No major safety issues are reported for targeting TPRG1 directly as of this writing.
