Overview

Tumor protein p63 regulated 1 like pseudogene 1 (TPRG1LP1), also known as "tumor protein p63 regulated 1-like pseudogene", is a non-coding RNA pseudogene thought to be related by sequence homology to the TPRG1 protein but does not encode a functional protein product. TPRG1LP1 is an unprocessed or processed pseudogene derived by sequence similarity to the protein-coding TPRG1 gene, found in the human genome. Pseudogenes are genetic elements resembling functional genes but typically are non-functional as proteins due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements[4][5]. Recent research highlights that some pseudogene transcripts can influence gene expression via competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanisms or serve as microRNA decoys[5]. This regulatory function is well-characterized in certain pseudogenes (such as PTENP1, KRAS1P, and BRAFP1) that modulate cancer-related pathways by affecting levels of their cognate proteins[2][4][5]. However, there is no specific evidence or biomedical literature indicating that TPRG1LP1 is directly involved in these regulatory processes or as a therapeutic target, nor is it used clinically as a biomarker or for drug interaction.[1][4][5]
