Overview

Tumor protein p73 (TP73) is a member of the p53 family of transcription factors, playing a critical role in regulating cellular responses to stress, cell cycle control, apoptosis, and development. It produces several isoforms, notably TAp73 (tumor suppressive) and ΔNp73 (oncogenic), with the balance between these isoforms crucial for tumor suppression versus oncogenic potential. TP73 is rarely mutated in cancers, but its dysregulation contributes to tumorigenesis. It interacts with various proteins and participates in intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathways.
