Tumor-Specific Idiotype Immunoglobulin (Id)

Target
Id
Molecular classification
Immunoglobulin, B-cell receptor (BCR)
01

Overview

The tumor-specific idiotype immunoglobulin (Id) refers to the unique antigenic determinants found in the variable regions of immunoglobulins produced by malignant B cells. These idiotypes are clonally unique and serve as both a functional receptor and a potential therapeutic target. It acts as a highly selective marker for malignant B cells and is used as a biomarker for disease monitoring and as an immunotherapeutic target.

Mechanism of action

Anti-idiotype antibodies: Direct binding and neutralization or ADCC/CDC. Idiotypic vaccines: Induction of humoral and cellular immune responses against tumor cells expressing the idiotype. Peptide-based strategies: T-cell stimulation.
