Target intelligence / Profile preview
The tumor-specific idiotype protein refers to the unique antigenic determinants (idiotypes, Id) present in the variable regions of immunoglobulin (Ig) molecules expressed by malignant B cells. These idiotypes serve as tumor-specific antigens and targets for active immunotherapy, distinguishing malignant cells from normal ones. Immunotherapies include monoclonal anti-idiotype antibodies and patient-specific vaccines made from recombinant or purified Id protein.
Stimulation of an immune response specifically directed at the unique Ig expressed on each patient's malignant B-cells, including induction of polyclonal antibody responses and activation of T helper cells.
