Tumor-specific mutant protein-derived epitopes are short peptide fragments generated from proteins that have undergone somatic mutations unique to tumor cells. These mutated peptides, presented on the surface of tumor cells by HLA molecules, enable recognition by T cells, particularly cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes, which can mediate targeted immune responses against cancer cells. They are key targets for personalized cancer immunotherapies like vaccines and adoptive cell therapies.
