Overview

Tumor-specific neoantigens (TSNs) are novel peptide sequences generated by somatic mutations within tumor cells. They are presented on MHC molecules and can be recognized by T cell receptors, triggering an immune response specifically against the tumor. They serve as unique markers distinguishing cancer cells from normal tissue and are targeted by personalized cancer vaccines and adoptive T-cell therapies.

Mechanism of action

Neoantigens are presented on MHC molecules and recognized by T cell receptors, triggering a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against tumor cells. Vaccines prime the immune system to recognize these neoantigens. Adoptive T-cell therapy uses ex vivo expanded T-cells specific for neoantigens to attack tumors.
