Overview

TSG101 is an essential multidomain protein central to endosomal sorting via ESCRT complexes. Its unique structure allows it to bind both ubiquitinated cargoes/proteins containing specific peptide motifs critical for vesicle budding events—including those hijacked during viral egress—and regulate key signaling pathways relevant to cell proliferation/differentiation. Dysregulation contributes variably either toward tumor suppression failure or oncogenic transformation depending on biological context.
