Overview

Tumor vasculature occlusion is not a canonical molecular target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any well-defined protein. Therapeutically, interventions like focused ultrasound or the induction of clot formation by damaging endothelial cells aim to block tumor blood supply, starving the tumor of nutrients and oxygen and thereby promoting cell death[4][5]. This concept is relevant in oncology both as a natural obstacle within tumors (resulting in hypoxic, therapy-resistant regions) and as a target for therapies designed to disrupt tumor angiogenesis and perfusion. However, as a "target," it lacks the specificity and molecular identity required for structured target-based drug development. Thus, listing “Tumor vasculature occlusion” as a discrete drug target is incorrect; it is best characterized as a process relevant to tumor biology and therapeutic strategy, not as a molecular entity.
