Tunica Intima Endothelial Receptor Tyrosine Kinase 2 (Tie2)

Target
Tie2
Molecular classification
Receptor tyrosine kinase, Tyrosine kinase, TIE family
01

Overview

Tunica intima endothelial receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (Tie2) is an endothelial-specific receptor tyrosine kinase crucial for angiogenesis. Ligands Angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) and Angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) regulate vascular quiescence versus remodeling by modulating interactions between endothelial cells and their environment. Tie2 signaling maintains blood vessel integrity by promoting endothelial cell survival, regulating vascular permeability and modulating inflammatory responses. Altered expression or function of Tie2/angiopoietins contributes to abnormal angiogenesis or increased plaque vulnerability in atherosclerosis in pathological states like cancer or diabetes.
