TASK-1 (TWIK-related acid-sensitive potassium channel 1) is a member of the two-pore domain potassium channel (K2P) family, encoded by the KCNK3 gene. It contributes to background potassium currents, setting the resting membrane potential in excitable cells. It is regulated by extracellular pH, hypoxia, and neurotransmitters. Dysfunction is linked to pulmonary arterial hypertension and potential arrhythmogenic effects. Pharmacologic inhibition has been explored for antiarrhythmic therapy.
