Overview

TYMS opposite strand RNA (TYMSOS), also known as C18orf56, is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 18 in humans[3][7]. It is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical drug target. Instead, it has been shown to regulate gene expression, with research particularly implicating it in the promotion of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and metastasis in thyroid carcinoma, acting through modulation of MARCKSL1 and activation of the PI3K pathway[5][7][8]. There is no current evidence for approved drugs interacting directly with TYMSOS, nor is it established as a clinical biomarker or target with defined mechanisms of action for approved therapeutics.
