Overview

IFNAR1 (Interferon alpha and beta receptor subunit 1) is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two essential subunits of the type I interferon receptor complex, partnering with IFNAR2. It binds all type I interferons and upon ligand binding, the receptor chains dimerize, activating JAKs and leading to STAT protein phosphorylation and subsequent transcription of interferon-stimulated genes. It plays a crucial role in antiviral defense and immunomodulation.
