Type II NADH dehydrogenase (NDH-2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of electrons from NADH to quinone molecules in the electron transport chain of bacteria, fungi, plants, and protists. It does not pump protons. Absent in mammalian mitochondria, it is a promising target for antimicrobial drug development. It functions as a homodimer with FAD as a cofactor and contains distinct binding sites for FAD, NAD(H), and quinones.
