Tyrosine kinase non-receptor 2 (ACK1) is a cytoplasmic enzyme belonging to the Ack family of protein kinases. It functions as a non-receptor tyrosine-protein kinase that plays key roles in regulating cellular processes such as growth, proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, migration and apoptosis. Like other members of its class, aberrant activity due to mutation or overexpression has been linked with cancer development—including tumor progression and metastasis—making it an attractive therapeutic target for small-molecule inhibitors designed to disrupt oncogenic signaling pathways. The human gene encoding this protein is TNK2 located at chromosome 3q29. Common aliases include activated Cdc42-associated kinase 1 (ACK1) and Pyk1.
