Tyrosine Kinase with Immunoglobulin-like and EGF-like Domains 2 Receptor (TIE2)

Target

Molecular classification
Receptor Tyrosine Kinase, Receptor, TIE subfamily
01

Overview

The Tyrosine Kinase with Immunoglobulin-like and EGF-like Domains 2 Receptor (TIE2), also known as TEK, is a receptor tyrosine kinase primarily expressed on endothelial cells. It plays a critical role in vascular development, angiogenesis, and blood vessel stability by mediating signal transduction pathways regulated by angiopoietins. Dysregulation of TIE2 can lead to vascular malformations and contribute to diseases involving abnormal angiogenesis, such as cancer and diabetic retinopathy. It is considered a potential target for antiangiogenic therapies.
