Target intelligence / Profile preview
B lymphoid tyrosine kinase (BLK) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the Src family, primarily expressed in B lymphocytes. It plays a crucial role in B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling and development. BLK functions downstream of the BCR, phosphorylating ITAMs and initiating intracellular signaling cascades essential for B cell activation and differentiation. Beyond immune function, BLK stimulates insulin synthesis and secretion. It also acts as an oncogene in certain cancers, making it a therapeutic target for drugs like dasatinib.
