Tyrosine-protein kinase receptor FLT1 (VEGFR1) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that belongs to the VEGFR family. It plays a crucial role in vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, both during embryonic development and in adulthood. VEGFR1 binds to VEGF-A, VEGF-B, and PlGF, and exists in both membrane-bound and soluble isoforms. The soluble isoform acts as a decoy receptor, sequestering VEGF ligands and modulating VEGFR2 signaling. VEGFR1 is implicated in various diseases, including pre-eclampsia and cancer, making it a target for anti-angiogenic therapies.
