Tyrosine-protein phosphatase non-receptor type 13 (PTPN13) is a large, intracellular enzyme belonging to the protein tyrosine phosphatase family, characterized by a catalytic PTP domain at its C-terminus and additional structural motifs including FERM and PDZ domains, which mediate interactions with membrane and cytoskeletal proteins[1][2][3][4]. PTPN13 plays critical roles in cell signaling, regulating apoptosis—particularly through dephosphorylation of the FAS (CD95) receptor and other downstream molecules—as well as in cell growth, differentiation, cell cycle control, and cytoskeletal organization; aberrant function or expression of PTPN13 has been associated with cancer pathogenesis, where it may influence tumor cell survival and metastatic characteristics[1][2][3][8].
